A part of the game so long that it gets its own thread!
Please discuss Guadia Quest here. And marvel at how something this meaty is part of a mock retro game collection. |

I'll be gone most of tomorrow give me a break. Besides, I know at least a couple of people were still playing the import somewhat.
It's here when people get here. |

I'm kind of disturbed that Parish's front page post made me so excited about this specifically, but then again, I was just yesterday working on writing a thing about why there's barely anything about Phantasy Star II that can be meaningfully improved without actually making the game worse. So I'm just a little hungry for a good, old RPG, and this sounds even better.
(Also, Phantasy Star II totally did have the Visiphone) |

Strangely enough, I'm particularly excited about Guadia Quest too, even though I just played Dragon Warrior II and was kind of fed up with it by the end. Then again, Guadie Quest merely looks old and hopefully will be free of the tedious grinding and horrible dungeons on DW II.

I just started this! The fact that the game has a town called Timbucktoo is some kind of awesome.

I haven't gotten to it yet, but I like how the interview for Guadia Quest in the April 86 issue has Marvin P. Android for the monster designer.

Man, the final dungeon is killing me. It's huge and confusing.

Hey I got my first Guadia! Gaia Guadia! Can't wait to see if it is worth it.

So I did an all out assault on a wind guadia while I was only level 7 and somehow managed to get him before he struck a killing blow to finish my mage off. Thus far he sits around alot, but when he attacks it hurts something fierce.

Also, while exploring, I found something amazing that I have no hope of getting yet: You can get talking head Arino as a Guadia! |

I'm at the end of the game and I still can't get it. Even if I use the items that reduce all of a Guadia's stats by 30-50 points, it still kills any member of my party in a single hit.

Every RPG should have a Fasta spell.

Are the the other Guadia's actually stronger than other ones? Like, I got a Gaia Guadia, and then managed to get luck out and get a Maze Guadia after he missed twice in a row on my last character. I tried him in a few fights and he didn't seem to hit any harder than my Gaia one. Then I died on my way out of the dungeon (I was out of Naga wings and the hero was dad so I couldn't warp) and decided to reset rather than take the money loss.

But you can compare the stats! Just go to Pact (I think? The DS isn't right in front of me at the moment.) in your menu and it will show the power level of your monster. |

EDIT: So I bought the Rune stuff to try it out, and they're totally not worth it. They're such a minor upgrade over your starting gear (like 3-5 extra Def per piece for the hero) that I'll take my chances with hunting for gear in the dungeon. Last edited by Knight : 02-12-2009 at 03:34 PM. |

And that is.. which building in town? Is it somewhere blindingly obvious I just didn't see?

Yeah, I found it. I dunno how I missed it.
Also found the GameGuadia! At level 7. ...ouch. |

It's ok, that sign that says "INN" is pretty tricky ;)
I also found the GameGuadia at level 7. Ouch. |

So, I went down to B2 of the first dungeon, walked through a wall, then a group of monsters nailed the main guy a few times and dropped him before I won the fight. Next battle, the group of monsters kill the other guy(?) when I fail to escape a couple times.
And then the mage hikes all the way back to the starting city without dying and revives everyone. SKUB is hardcore. |

Does anyone have a Fire Guadia right now? If you do, could you post its stats? I had one, forgot to check them, and then replaced it with a Maze Guadia when I encountered one. I think the Maze Guadia is better, but I won't know unless I get the Fire one back, and I don't want to do that in case the Maze one really is better.

Dormi (Sleep) is still quite valuable in the second dungeon even though it is an early spell. I use it every time there is multiple enemies.

They really should've included a map along with the manual, I have no idea where to go and it's freaking irritating. There's a TINY one in the manual but not enough to see any details by.

Turn the game into Etrian Odyssey and make your own maps on the memo paper. It's even graph paper!
